RGo Robotics and NVIDIA join forces to revolutionize mobile robot deployment
In a significant move that promises to transform the landscape of industrial automation, RGo Robotics Inc. has announced a strategic partnership with tech giant NVIDIA. The collaboration aims to integrate NVIDIA's cutting-edge Isaac Robotics technology into RGo's perception platforms, marking a new era in AI-powered automation.
At the heart of this partnership is RGo's flagship product, the Perception Engine. This state-of-the-art artificial intelligence and vision system is designed for localization, obstacle detection, and scene understanding. When combined with NVIDIA's Isaac Perceptor acceleration libraries, this synergy is set to redefine the deployment timeline for mobile robots, reducing it from months to a matter of weeks.
"Visual perception is an enabler for the generative AI revolution in robotics," stated Amir Bousani, co-founder and CEO of RGo Robotics. His words underscore the transformative potential of this collaboration. The RGo Perception Engine, already deployed on NVIDIA Jetson Orin modules in dynamic and complex warehousing and manufacturing environments, has been enabling intelligent automation in previously challenging spaces. Now, with the expanded integration and availability of the RGo Perception Engine with NVIDIA Isaac Perceptor, the partnership aims to extend this capability to a broader customer base.
The integrated software stack is compatible with NVIDIA's recently unveiled Nova Orin Developer Kit, designed to simplify robot setup in ever-changing environments, both indoors and outdoors. This compatibility ensures that the benefits of this partnership can be harnessed across a wide range of settings, from bustling warehouses to open-air manufacturing facilities.
RGo Robotics, with offices in Caesarea, Israel, and Cambridge, Mass., specializes in creating technology that enables machines to perceive their surroundings. Their software empowers robots to learn on the go using computer vision, AI algorithms, and scalable sensor-fusion technology. The modular AI stack of Perception Engine can be used to enable autonomous driving of robots, remote operations, tracking of assets and inventory, geofencing, and dynamic shared mapping.
The integration of Isaac Perceptor with Perception Engine is set to provide advanced vision capabilities to Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs). This enhancement will allow AMRs to better perceive, understand, and interact with their environment. As Deepu Talla, vice president of robotics and edge AI at NVIDIA, put it, "The era of robots powered by physical AI is here."
But the benefits don't stop at improved perception. The combined offering from RGo and NVIDIA will allow customers to leverage unique data generated by the platform. This includes positioning information, dynamic mapping, and geometric and semantic understanding. Armed with this data, customers can enhance their intelligent robots with generative AI-powered autonomy, natural language human-machine interaction, and advanced analysis and insights.
RGo Robotics' ambitions extend beyond this current integration. The company plans to work extensively with NVIDIA's suite of tools, including Isaac software tools and packages, as well as NVIDIA Metropolis vision AI developer tools. This collaboration will enable RGo to build, deploy, and scale vision AI and generative AI capabilities. One of the key focus areas will be identifying challenging obstacles, such as forks on the floor, and other features unique to specific customer environments.
Moreover, RGo aims to use Isaac to offer advanced capabilities such as generating facility maps using just a camera. This feature could significantly streamline the setup process for new robotic deployments.
The potential of this partnership was vividly demonstrated at Computex this week. During his keynote, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang revealed that an AMR using NVIDIA Isaac Perceptor and RGo Perception Engine was set up to run in an actual production environment within just three days. This rapid deployment underscores the transformative power of this collaboration.
As industries increasingly turn to automation to enhance efficiency and safety, the partnership between RGo Robotics and NVIDIA arrives at a critical juncture. By combining RGo's expertise in perception technology with NVIDIA's prowess in AI acceleration, they are not just improving existing robotic systems but redefining what's possible in industrial automation. From faster deployment times to more intelligent, adaptable robots, this collaboration promises to usher in a new era of AI-driven productivity across diverse industrial landscapes.
