EveR-6 conducted at the music festival

The EveR-6 robot was developed by Samsung engineers. He is able to analyze the sound, movements and emotions of performers, as well as adapt to different styles and genres of music.

According to experts, EveR-6 demonstrated a high level of coordination, expressiveness and charisma, winning the admiration of viewers and critics during its first performance.

Before the performance, EveR-6 greeted the audience with a bow. Turning to the musicians, he began conducting. Under the guidance of a robot, the orchestra performed three of the five pieces performed at the musical event.

As a result, the robot demonstrated that it can perform repetitive movements at high speed. In one composition, EveR-6 worked in tandem with a live conductor — Korean maestro Choi Soo-el.

Industry representatives clarified that the almost two-meter robot was created at the Korean Institute of Industrial Technologies. Thanks to the flexible joints, EveR-6 can make sharp movements, which a real conductor taught him. To do this, we used a special system that captures gestures using sensors attached to the human body.

The project developers explained that the EveR-6 android robot is equipped with flexible structures that simulate joints and forearms. According to Korean musicians, with detailed precise movements and the ability to perfectly maintain the rhythm, EveR-6 has a significant drawback — lack of hearing. In the future, the developers want to improve the robot so that it becomes an auxiliary tool for conductors.

The musicians told the media that the robot keeps a set pace from the beginning to the end of the performance, which tones up the performers and forces them to be collected and keep up with the teams. On the other hand, the robot cannot yet perceive music as a human does. For example, if during a concert the conductor notices even the smallest mistakes of the musicians, then he quickly corrects them by speeding up or slowing down the tempo, and Ever-6 does not know how to do that yet.

A team of Korean developers is already working on the creation of the EveR-7 robot, which will be better in its capabilities than its predecessor.
