Hire Robot Workers: IBEX Caterpillar Leg Robot - Combat Off-Road Drone

Donaustahl develops IBEX caterpillar leg robot, a combat off-road drone with impressive capabilities

In a remarkable development in the field of military robotics, German company Donaustahl has unveiled the concept of an unmanned combat robot called IBEX, featuring a unique tracked and walking system. This caterpillar leg robot is designed to offer exceptional off-road capabilities, making it an ideal choice for defense applications in challenging terrains.

The IBEX caterpillar leg robot stands out due to its unusual form factor. Instead of conventional tracks or wheels, the robot is equipped with four independent tracks mounted on biometric legs, similar to those found in four-legged animals. This innovative design enables the robot to overcome obstacles up to 3 meters wide and more than 1.8 meters high, providing unparalleled mobility in difficult and hard-to-reach areas.

Powered by an 800 hp diesel engine with an electric generator, the IBEX caterpillar leg robot can reach speeds of up to 55 km/h on asphalt roads and boasts a power reserve of 300 km. This impressive performance makes it a formidable force on the battlefield.

The robot's body is equipped with a rotating turret, which can be fitted with various weapon options, including two 35-mm anti-aircraft guns, two anti-aircraft missile systems with 4 launches each, or mortar and medium-caliber artillery. Additionally, the turret houses a radar station capable of detecting aerodynamic targets at a distance of up to 7 km.

Key features of the IBEX caterpillar leg robot include:

  • Height: 3.93 meters
  • Difference between highest and lowest possible track position: 1.8 meters
  • Robot weight: 25 tons

The developers at Donaustahl believe that the unusual format of the IBEX caterpillar leg robot will be highly beneficial for NATO troops operating in difficult and hard-to-reach areas, as its tracked and pedestrian system offers exceptional off-road capabilities.

By hiring robot workers like the IBEX caterpillar leg robot, defense organizations can significantly enhance their combat capabilities in challenging terrains. This innovative robot represents a major step forward in military robotics, offering a powerful and versatile solution for modern warfare.
