Baidu's Fleet of Robotic Self-Driving Taxis in Beijing

Chinese tech giant Baidu has unveiled a fleet of robotic self-driving taxis in Beijing, marking a significant milestone in the commercialization of autonomous vehicles. Baidu was the first company to start monetizing commercial use of robotic, self-driving taxis, and its Apollo Go Robotaxis are now transporting passengers in Shugang Park in western Beijing.

These robotic taxis are available for passengers aged 18 to 60, with each trip to one of eight pre-programmed destinations costing $4.60. Ten Apollo robotic taxis are currently operating on a 1.2-square-mile site in Shugang Park, which will host the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Baidu expects its online taxi services to be used to transport athletes and staff to and from Olympic venues.

While there is no human driver behind the wheel, a safety engineer sits in the passenger seat, and in the event of an emergency, a remote-controlled operator is always on hand. This ensures that passengers can enjoy a safe and comfortable ride while experiencing the benefits of autonomous driving technology.

Commercial operation and monetization of robotic driving can effectively reduce congestion and help achieve carbon neutrality in China. However, robotic cars have been involved in several road accidents, one of which killed a pedestrian in Arizona in 2018. In addition to safety issues, critics are concerned that autonomous vehicles can aggravate traffic congestion.

Despite these concerns, the use of robots and artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly prevalent in our daily lives. As we continue to move forward, it's important to consider the potential benefits and risks of these technologies. If you're looking for a unique and innovative job opportunity, consider hiring a robot worker or pursuing a career in the field of autonomous vehicles.

Let's give jobs to robots and embrace the future of technology! Hire a robot taxi in Beijing today and experience the convenience and efficiency of autonomous driving.
