Enchanted tools delivers first Miroka robot to ISIR, marking milestone in social robotics

In a significant leap forward for the field of social robotics, French startup Enchanted Tools has successfully delivered its first Miroka robot to the Institut des Systèmes Intelligents et de Robotique (ISIR). This landmark event not only showcases the rapid progress of Enchanted Tools since its founding in 2021 but also highlights the growing potential of interactive, mobile robotic systems in various sectors.

 

 

The Miroka robot, first unveiled at CES 2023 in Las Vegas, represents a bold new direction in social robot design. Unlike traditional stationary or wheeled robots, Miroka is built around a unique ball-bot base, allowing for unprecedented mobility and agility. This innovative design choice, while risky, has paid off, making Miroka the first commercially available ball-bot based robot solution in the market.

Jérôme Monceaux, CEO of Enchanted Tools, expressed pride in this achievement, stating, "This moment symbolizes not only the maturity of our prototype but also the strength of our partnership with ISIR, a pillar of innovation in robotics." The delivery to ISIR, a prestigious joint research unit under the supervision of Sorbonne University, CNRS, and Inserm, underscores the scientific community's interest in Miroka's potential.

  3. Human-robot interaction, aiming to integrate interactive behaviors that allow the robot to adapt naturally to users.

Guillaume Morel, head of the Miroka project at ISIR, emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating, "It's a win-win partnership, giving ISIR a major boost to its activities in interactive mobile manipulation, and enabling Enchanted Tools to rapidly transfer our research advances for even more effective future products."

The delivery of Miroka to ISIR is just the beginning. Enchanted Tools has ambitious plans to continue delivering robots to other customers through the end of 2024. This rollout strategy suggests confidence in the product and hints at the potential for widespread adoption across various sectors.
