On June 30, an official presentation of the U1 series of humanoid bionic robots by UBTECH Robotics took place in Shenzhen, China.
According to the developers, this model is designed for consumer use - focused on emotional interaction with people - and can be used both in everyday life for communication and in public spaces to engage with visitors.
Technical Specifications
The U1 series includes three variants: Lite, Pro, and Ultra, priced at $17,600, $25,000, and $145,000, respectively. Both male and female versions are available, featuring different appearances and body types.
The robot stands 168 cm tall in the female version and 183 cm in the male version, with weights of 35 kg and 42 kg, respectively. For voice interaction, it uses the Resonance-LM AI model, which is suitable for extended conversations.
However, the key feature of this bionic robot line is its realistic silicone skin, which feels almost like human skin to the touch. The models also feature lifelike facial expressions, while body mobility is enabled by 88 high-degree-of-freedom joints.
Data Security
Users do not need to worry about privacy, as interaction data is encrypted and stored locally on the device without automatic cloud uploads.
Outlook
It is clear that the production of such robots requires significant resources and investment. Will this project pay off? Recently, there has been a shift toward personalized systems rather than pre-programmed interactions.
Here is what Michael Tam, Brand Development Director at UBTECH and General Manager of UWORLD, says:
“The human-robot interaction economy represents the first scenario in human history with unlimited emotional value, boundless interaction, and full lifecycle coverage.”
UBTECH founder Zhou Jian reports that more than 13,000 pre-orders have already been received. If this series achieves widespread adoption, UBTECH Robotics could find itself in a league of its own.
