Indian surgical robot completes 4,000 successful operations

SSi Mantra robotic surgery system —with zero deaths or major complications reported.

In a major milestone for medical robotics, India’s SS Innovations International has revealed that its SSi Mantra robotic surgery system has successfully assisted in 4,000 surgeries—with zero deaths or major complications reported.

A Robot Surgeon for 100+ Procedures
The SSi Mantra has been used in over 100 types of surgeries, including:
✔ 215 heart surgeries (6 performed via remote control)
✔ General surgery, urology, gynecology, and plastic surgery
✔ Thoracic, gastroenterological, and head/neck procedures

The system works with 40+ surgical tools, offering precision and flexibility that rivals top Western models—but at a more affordable price.

Global Expansion: Europe & US Next
Already approved in 7 countries, the Indian-made robot is set to enter:
🔹 Europe by late 2025
🔹 USA by mid-2026

Currently, 80 SSi Mantra systems are active in 75 hospitals—far fewer than the dominant DaVinci robots (common in the US and Russia). But with its lower cost, it could soon become a game-changer worldwide.

Will Europe Adopt the Indian Robot?
With dozens of DaVinci robots already in Europe hospitals, the cheaper SSi Mantra could be an attractive alternative—especially as India strengthens its position in high-tech medical exports.
