Dall-E 3, OpenAI's latest iteration of its whimsical AI art generator, produces stunning and often eerily realistic images from text prompts. But wide access to such synthetic media creation raises concerns around misuse for fakes and misinformation.

In response, OpenAI touts an "origin classifier" that can supposedly recognize Dall-E creations 99% of the time. This builds on prior failed efforts to label AI writings like ChatGPT's. It aims to combat potential harms without overly surveilling legitimate users.
