Robotics leaders to share commercialization secrets at 2024 summit
Every year, brilliant robotics startups shutter due to the immense challenges of bringing innovative technologies to market. But a panel of experts at the upcoming 2024 Robotics Summit & Expo in Boston aims to help entrepreneurs navigate the road to commercialization success.
The panel session, titled "Paving the Road to Success in Robotics Commercialization," will feature insights from pioneers in agriculture robotics, construction automation, entrepreneurship, and technology ecosystems. Their diverse backgrounds promise to offer a 360-degree view on what it takes to transform a robotic vision into a viable product.
"Even the most brilliant roboticists can stumble when it comes to finding the right product-market fit and scaling operations," said session moderator Andy McMillan, board chair at contract manufacturer Cirtronics. "This panel brings together experts who have conquered those obstacles first-hand. Attendees will gain invaluable insights to pave their own commercialization journeys."
Among the featured panelists is Jennifer Apicella, executive director of the Pittsburgh Robotics Network. Apicella has over 15 years' experience in advanced technologies and has helped establish Pittsburgh as one of the world's premier robotics business hubs. Her insights will shed light on cultivating a supportive ecosystem.
Representing the agriculture sector is Brandon Contino, co-founder and CEO of Four Growers. His company is pioneering the use of AI and robotics to autonomously analyze and harvest specialty crops, with systems deployed across North America and Europe. Contino's expertise spans neural networks, photovoltaics, IoT sensing, and award-winning autonomous robot design.
The construction perspective comes from Stephen Muck, CEO of Brayman Construction and co-founder of Advanced Construction Robotics (ACR). Muck oversees a $200 million construction portfolio and ACR's autonomous rebar installation robots. With over 20 business startups and acquisitions under his belt, he'll speak to scaling operations and managing growth.
The panelists will delve into the essential elements for successful robotics commercialization, assessing problems alongside technology awareness, determining optimal manufacturing outsourcing timing, and more. The session kicks off at 11:30am on the event's first day.
Promised to be the largest Robotics Summit yet, the 2024 event will also feature over 200 exhibitors, ample networking opportunities, a Women in Robotics breakfast, career fair, engineering theater, startup showcase, and an inaugural Robot Innovation Awards gala.
The awards gala promises a night of celebration, with cocktails, dinner, and the chance to hear from the Robot of the Year, Startup of the Year, and Application of the Year winners. A limited number of gala tickets are available to attendees on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Robotics Summit & Expo runs concurrently with DeviceTalks for the medical device industry and the inaugural Digital Transformation Forum. Registration for this must-attend robotics event is now open at www.roboticssummit.com.
