Enchanted Tools Introduces Miroki and Miroka Robots
Enchanted Tools, a Paris-based company, aims to stand out among robot developers with its mobile robots Miroki and Miroka, drawing inspiration from Pixar's creativity.
Featuring sharp ears and expressive cat-like faces, Miroki and Miroka are designed for use in hospitals, nursing homes, and hotels to assist with item transportation. Both robots function similarly, with the only difference being that Miroki is a male and Miroka is a female.
According to Enchanted Tools, the robots can grasp items with specially designed handles attached to trays, boasting a success rate of 97%. For navigation, they utilize a rotating sphere.
Visitors at this year's CES exhibition had the opportunity to witness Miroki in action at the Enchanted Tools demonstration area, where CEO Jerome Monso highlighted the robot's technological advancements and the company's artistic and narrative goals.
"Many robots currently on the market have limited capabilities and inefficient communication, hindering their usefulness and adoption. We believe the world deserves better," stated Monso. "We believe that robots can be 'more than useful' and have the potential to transform the world, rather than dehumanize it. The premise that technological innovations can be both artistic and emotional underpins Miroki."
Established in 2021, Enchanted Tools has raised $17 million in initial funding to date. Monso, who previously worked at Aldebaran, later acquired by SoftBank, played a pivotal role in creating humanoid robots Nao and Pepper.
With Miroki, Monso aims to leverage his extensive experience and offer customers a robot capable of navigating its environment effortlessly and collaborating intelligently with humans. Miroki and Miroka utilize AI to understand commands such as "Return all these items to their places," "Deliver this tray to the room every hour," and "On Monday morning, take the cart to the pharmacy."
Enchanted Tools announced that it is testing the robot on six experimental sites and in three research laboratories. The company has partnered with the Broca Hospital in Paris, stating that this elderly care hospital will be among the first to publicly use Miroki in 2024.
"The robot will be able to perform tasks such as bringing water to patients, clearing trays from hospital cafeterias, delivering gloves, or other PPE to doctors," the company stated. On the Enchanted Tools website, the robot's specifications are listed as weighing 26 kg, standing at 1.23 m tall, with a maximum speed of 3.2 km/h, a payload capacity of 3 kg, and a battery life of 8 hours.
