STM secures first export contract for Kargu kamikaze drone.

In a significant milestone for the Turkish defense industry, STM, a state-owned company, has finalized the first export contract for the Kargu kamikaze drone, slated for completion by the end of 2021.

While the destination of the drones remains undisclosed, the Turkish Defense Industry Directorate underscores Kargu's status as a national pride, emphasizing ongoing negotiations for UAV exports to multiple countries.

Ismail Demir, the head of the Defense Industry Department, affirms Turkey's commitment to expanding the export of defense products rooted in domestic capabilities and battlefield success.

The Kargu drone, designed in quadcopter format, weighs 6.28 kg and boasts a payload capacity of 1.6 kg. With speeds reaching up to 120 km/h and an operational range of 5 to 10 km, the drone offers a flight duration of approximately 15 minutes.

Notably, the Kargu drone is engineered to operate effectively within a swarm of up to 20 units, enhancing its tactical versatility and effectiveness on the battlefield. Development of the Kargu commenced in 2017, marking a significant advancement in unmanned aerial vehicle technology.

Capable of accelerating to speeds of 120 km/h and grouping in formations of up to 20 drones, the Kargu exemplifies the cutting-edge capabilities driving innovation in the Turkish defense industry.
