The newly added territory extends further into North Phoenix and reaches as far as the popular Desert Ridge area.

In a groundbreaking move, Waymo has also established a first-of-its-kind partnership with the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC). This agreement allows Waymo's vehicles to operate on tribal land, a significant step in expanding autonomous vehicle operations and fostering relationships with diverse communities. Riders can now access the popular Talking Stick Entertainment District, home to attractions such as the Talking Stick Resort, Salt River Fields, and TopGolf.

The company recently provided its employees with 24/7 access to curbside terminal pickup and drop-offs at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, with plans to extend this service to public riders in the near future. Currently, public riders can access terminals directly during nighttime hours (10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. MT) or use the 24th St and 44th St PHX Sky Train Stations round the clock.

This expansion in Phoenix is part of Waymo's broader strategy of carefully targeted growth. While scaling back its Waymo Via shipping operations across the Southwest, the company is simultaneously pursuing expansion in other key markets.
